The LED Flashlight Bulbs technology is far more efficient than the incandescent bulbs. The flashlights use led bulbs that get long life battery and life span of led bulb is longer too. In this post, I’ll show you some basic knowledge about led bulbs (without technical information that help you easy to follow) such as some popular famous branding, some led bulbs is good or cheap which is equipped for flashlight.

Branding

There are some big and famous LED bulbs brands: Samsung (Korea), Phillips (Netherland), Osram (German), Cree (USA), Nichia (Japan). The Cree brand is most famous popular and the most widely used, so many flashlight brands (include high quality and cheap quality flashlight brands) choose it for their products.

Below is some common Cree LED flashlight bulbs models and its own features, which is equipped for flashlights.

As you see in the illustration table above, its lumens are max lumens. When it used for flashlights, the lumens will be controlled from min to max by electronic circuit driver. So, the driver is a part very important of best led flashlights. Many cheap led flashlights has low quality electronic circuit driver (for reducing the price) that cause waste of battery and the led flashlight is not produce light as you want. Most cheap led flashlights hasn’t got stable current circuit so when energy of battery is low, the light will be low quickly.

Note:

Talking about LED bulbs and its lumens, you should know about color temperatures of led. The white color is about 6500k (cool colors) and the yellow color (as light from halogen bulb) is about 3500k. The color temperatures is lower, the price is higher. The white light LEDs are popular in most of flashlights and has color temperature is about 5000k to 6500k

The Cree LEDs Flashlight Bulbs Model

As I mentioned above, the Cree is most popular led flashlight bulbs and so many led flashlight brands has used it for their flashlights. You see the below picture, it is some Cree led bulbs series are common for cheap to expensive flashlights.

Note 1:

Testing for Cree XP-L and Cree XM-L2 for the same condition, the result is the Led XM-L2 is brighter than Led XP-L about 3%. So we can say that the light of two are the same but Cree XP-L has the size is smaller (see details in the picture above)

Note 2:

The difference between XM-L2 and XML-T6, XML-U2, XML-U3:

• It’s visible to the naked eye, we can see the different of LED XM-L2 and LED Cree XML-T6, U2, U3 because the Cree XM-L2 has tiny dots on the led bulb and the Cree XML-T6, U2, U3 has thin lines which made six small squares.
• We can’t see the difference of the Cree XML-T6, U2, U3 by naked eye because its size and shape are the same. We just can discriminate between them by its code. For every updated, it has difference code and the difference lumens too.
